During this half term, Year 2 have been learning all about pirates. This morning the Otter and Pelican classes joined together to share what they have learned. Their performance included information about a famous pirate named Blackbeard, a challenging quiz, a video of their favourite learning, and a pirate song. Thank you to everyone who came out to support them. We are very proud of what they were able to achieve.

The annual, Geography Awareness Week promoted by National Geographic, aims to increase global awareness of the importance of geography. The programme encourages citizens, young and old, to think and learn about the significance of place and how we affect and are affected by it. All DBS students from EY1 to Year 6, have been "Putting Denla on the Map". They have developed their mapping skills with each year group taking part in a fun and exciting map making project. The students have used programmable floor robots, a drone, cameras, junk modelling materials and Lego to help make their own maps. The results have been excellent and the work has ensured that the children have an improved understanding of the world in which they live.

Nursery rhymes play an important role in early childhood by helping children master key skills such as language, communication and social, physical and emotional skills. EY1 children have been celebrating International Nursery Rhyme Week concluding with our amazing 'Dress up as a Nursery Rhyme character' day. We paraded around the school singing of the nursery rhymes that we have learnt since being at Denla British Schoo to our audience. At DBS, the Early Years team is passionate about nursery rhymes and the importance they play in early years development. Every day in our classes, we see first-hand how children benefit from singing and playing along to the simplest of rhymes.
