  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We understand that choosing the right school for your child is a significant decision. To assist you on your journey to joining the DBS family, we have compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding our admissions process, curriculum, and life at our school. We hope this section provides the clarity you need. However, should you have any further enquiries, our dedicated Admissions Team is always delighted to provide personalised support.

    Admissions & Enrolment

At what age can my child join DBS?

DBS accepts students from Pre-EY (age 2) to Year 13 (age 18).

Families may reserve a place from birth to guarantee entry in a future academic year. We recommend securing your child’s place early, as spaces in some year groups are highly sought after and fill quickly.

What are the English language requirements for entry?

We welcome students from a variety of language backgrounds. All applicants complete an English assessment so we can understand their current ability and provide the right support.

    • Students with strong English skills join mainstream classes directly.
    • Students who need extra support may be offered places in our Language Support Programme, tailored to help them progress quickly while accessing the full DBS experience.
Are scholarships or financial support available at DBS?

DBS offers a range of scholarships in academics, music, sport and EBC. While these do not reduce tuition fees, they provide a dedicated budget to support each scholar’s talent development. We also have a bursary programme for both current and prospective families, awarded based on financial need.

To learn more about scholarships or bursaries, please contact our Admissions Team.

Can we visit the school before applying?

Absolutely. We encourage all prospective families to experience DBS first-hand. You can book a personalised tour to see our facilities, meet our teachers, and discover our community spirit. Open Day events are also held throughout the year for families to explore DBS.

To arrange your visit, please contact our Admissions Team at [email protected] or +662-666-1933.

How many students are in each class at DBS?

We keep our classes intentionally small to ensure personalised attention and a high-quality learning experience for every child.

    • Mini Dragons (Pre-EY): Up to 15 students, guided by 1 class teacher and 3 learning assistants (1:4 ratio)
    • Early Years: Up to 15 students, with 1 class teacher and 2 learning assistants (1:5 ratio)
    • Years 1–6: Up to 22 students, supported by 1 class teacher and 1 learning assistant
    • Years 7-11: Up to 22 students, taught by dedicated subject specialists
    • Sixth Form (Years 12–13): Up to 16 students, ensuring personalised mentoring, close academic tracking, and strong pastoral care

Our approach means every student receives the attention, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive — both in and beyond the classroom.

    Daily Operations & Policies

What are the school hours and term dates?

Our Administration Office is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
While school hours are designed to meet the needs of each age group:

    • Mini Dragons: 8:30am – 2:00pm
    • Nursery: 8:30am – 2:40pm
    • Reception – Year 13: 8:00am – 3:10pm
We also offer a rich programme of After School Activities (ASA) in two sessions:
    • First session: 3:20pm – 4:20pm
    • Second session: 4:20pm – 5:20pm

While ASAs are optional, we highly recommend students from Year 3 and above join at least one per day. In Years 3–9, ASAs focus on helping students explore and develop their interests. In Years 10–13, they are designed to prepare students for university and future pathways.

    Facilities & Campus

What facilities are available for students?

Spanning over 100,000+ sq.m., DBS is a purpose-built campus designed to inspire learning, creativity, and exploration at every age. Student Life & Wellbeing

What extracurricular activities and clubs are available?

At DBS, students have access to over 500 extracurricular activities and clubs every week, offering endless opportunities to explore interests and discover new passions. Choices range from sports, music, drama, and art to coding, robotics, debate, languages, leadership, and more.

Each activity is designed to develop skills, inspire creativity, build confidence, and prepare students for life beyond the classroom — including university and future careers. With such variety, every student can find something they love.

Is lunch provided, and what is the menu like?

Yes. The tuition fee includes morning and afternoon snacks as well as a healthy lunch buffet. All meals are freshly prepared each day by our FoodHouse catering team, offering a variety of international and Asian dishes. Halal, vegetarian, and healthy options are always available to ensure every student enjoys a balanced diet.

Does the school accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies?

Yes. Before starting school, every family meets with our nursing team for a medical interview, so we can fully understand each child’s health needs. The nurses work closely with parents, teachers, and the catering team to provide safe, suitable meals for students with allergies, intolerances, or cultural and religious dietary requirements. Your child’s health and wellbeing are always our priority.
