In 2011, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Drama degree. After graduating, he volunteered in various schools for 18 months which is where he became inspired to work with young children. This led him to becoming a teaching assistant, in which he learnt about teaching and schooling environments. Due to this positive experience, he then went on to gain his Qualified Teachers Status in 2014 through a PGCE, specialising in Mathematics.<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a Mathematics Specialist teacher, Mr Spooner has studied and cultivated teaching styles and techniques, aimed to \u2018lift the lid\u2019 off the way in which children interact with Mathematics, and create a feeling of passion and ownership. Within his journey, he has led initiatives through the job role of Head of Primary Mathematics within a previous post for 3 years.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr Spooner embodies the \u2018Growth Mindset\u2019 concept and is a firm believer in the phrase, \u2018I can\u2019. He enjoys empowering students to reflect, build resilience and challenges them to not be afraid of failure. His favourite saying is, \u2018It\u2019s okay to fail; it is not okay to do nothing about it!\u2019 Mr Spooner loves working with children, and\u00a0 has worked in schools across Asia, in China, Malaysia and now Thailand. At DBS, Mr Spooner has led on the integration of online learning platforms within the Pre-prep such as EducationCity.<\/span>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a proud father of one, Mr Spooner thoroughly enjoys family time. He is also a lover of exercise, particularly running, swimming and the gym.
