“Learning about computers is crucial for young people as it provides them with the confidence, creativity and problem solving skills that will help to prepare them for the challenges of future life.”
My name is Kirstie Kirkpatrick and I am the Computer Science teacher at DBS Denla British School. I have been teaching for over eleven years, with different levels of responsibility including Head of Faculty and Coordinator for Primary IT. Throughout my teaching career I have been lucky to teach a diverse group of students and have developed the talent to create inspiring hands-on lessons that will capture students’ imaginations. After working in the UK for more than six years, as a family we wanted to experience different cultures and experiences and headed out to the Seychelles for my first International teaching role. I introduced the new British Computer Science curriculum into the school from Year 1 to Year 13 and successfully managed to raise the profile of ICT and Computer Science within the school and community. From there we moved onto Europe and then to South East Asia, working in Yangon in Myanmar for the last three years, before finally arriving in Thailand this year.
Being an experienced teacher at IGCSE and A Level, I relished the opportunity to work at DBS Denla British School, leading with the introduction of the new Computer Science IGCSE and on towards A Levels. Creating a sense of excitement about IT is something I am very passionate about. I believe that learning about computers is crucial for young people as it provides them with the confidence, creativity and problem solving skills that will help to prepare them for the challenges of future life.
Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Graphic Designer for a leading project management company in the UK for over seven years. I have always had a keen interest in the Arts which enables me to bring real life into the classroom. I love playing most sports and outdoor activities including swimming, hiking and cycling.

ดิฉันชื่อ เคิร์สตี้ เคิร์กแพทริค เป็นครูสอนวิชาวิทยาการคอมพิวเตอร์ที่โรงเรียนนานาชาติ DBS ดิฉันมีประสบการณ์ด้านการสอนมากว่า 11 ปี ในหน้าที่ความรับผิดชอบที่หลากหลาย และได้เป็นหัวหน้าฝ่ายและผู้ประสานงานเบื้องต้นด้านไอทีด้วย ฉันรู้สึกโชคดีที่ตัวเองได้สอนนักเรียนหลากหลายกลุ่มในตลอดระยะเวลาอาชีพครูของฉัน โดยฉันได้พัฒนาความสามารถของฉันในการสร้างบทเรียนที่เต็มไปด้วยแรงบันดาลใจและเสริมสร้างจินตนาการให้แก่นักเรียน หลังจากทำงานในประเทศอังกฤษมานานกว่า 6 ปี ฉันและครอบครัวของฉันก็อยากเปิดประสบการณ์ใหม่ ๆ เกี่ยวกับวัฒนธรรมอื่น พวกเราจึงได้ย้ายไปที่สาธารณรัฐเซเชลส์และได้สอนหนังสือในระดับนานาชาติที่นั่น
ที่นั่นฉันได้นำหลักสูตรใหม่ ๆ ด้านวิทยาการคอมพิวเตอร์ของประเทศอังกฤษมาปรับใช้ในชั้นเรียนตั้งแต่ Year 1 ถึง Year 13 โดยการสอนในรูปแบบนี้ประสบความสำเร็จเป็นอย่างมากและทำให้โรงเรียนที่ฉันสอนและชุมชนของโรงเรียนนั้นสามารถยกระดับโปรไฟล์ของวิชา ICT ของตัวเองขึ้นมาเลยทีเดียว หลังจากนั้นในเวลาต่อมา ฉันและครอบครัวก็ย้ายไปที่ยุโรปและไปยังเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ โดยฉันได้สอนที่โรงเรียนในกรุงย่างกุ้ง ประเทศเมียนมาร์มาเป็นเวลา 3 ปี ก่อนมาประจำอยู่ที่ประเทศไทย

ก่อนที่จะมาเป็นครู ฉันเคยประกอบอาชีพเป็นนักออกแบบกราฟฟิคให้กับบริษัทชั้นนำแห่งหนึ่งในประเทศอังกฤษมานานกว่า 7 ปี นอกจากนี้ฉันยังมีความสนใจในศิลปะเป็นอย่างมากด้วยและสิ่งนี้ก็ทำให้ฉันสามารถนำศิลปะมาปรับใช้ในห้องเรียนได้ ฉันชอบเล่นกีฬาเกือบทุกชนิด รวมถึงกีฬากลางแจ้ง ทั้ง ว่ายน้ำ เดินป่า และปั่นจักรยาน
