Combining Creativity with Computing, Students Learn to do Spreadsheets in a Fun Way.

Who says Spreadsheet software is just for grown-ups? Spreadsheets can be used from a young age, allowing students to organise and analyse data, measure, plot graphs, and much more! It is a necessary 21st century skill!

To get young children engaged in learning, the DBS Computing department has combined creativity within the Computing curriculum. In the Computing class with Mrs Hall, students were learning how to use computers to collect, sort and organise data in a fun and creative way.

Students used a template in Google Sheets to create an Emoji, demonstrating their learning about how to give cell references. They designed their own eyes and mouth using the formatting tools and then added text to label the cell references for each cell. If you look closely, you might be able to check if they are correct!
